Angelina and Paragliding in Turrialba
La Angelina, in Turrialba, is one of Costa Rica's most popular paragliding areas due to its exceptional characteristics and proximity to San José. The valley has seen countless pilots and instructors hone their paragliding skills while soaring over the slopes of the Turrialba volcano. Its favorable thermal and thermodynamic conditions are its greatest asset; many pilots visit during the tropical summer season, which, trade winds permitting, offers the best time for exceptional flying.
These satellite images contain embedded flights and thermal updrafts of many pilots during different times of the year. The map shows the evolution of the thermal map, the convective potential of the area, and the tracks throughout the valley.
