Urgent Recall of Paragliders Manufactured with Dominico 30 (2019–2022) Due to Accelerated Deterioration of the Leading Edge

In light of the issues with the durability of the DOMINICO 30 fabric in all paragliders manufactured between 2019 and 2022, and due to the accelerated degradation of the leading edge’s porosity, extreme caution is advised. Recent analyses of local pilots’ gliders show that in all cases, the failure is critical.
The Dutch were the first to detect problems with the porosity of that fabric in relatively new gliders, and a more in-depth investigation was launched, leading to a detailed analysis by the DHV and the BHPA.

Attached are the analyses conducted by the DHV and the BHPA on this matter, as well as the SAFETY NOTES published regarding the rapid degradation and low porosity of the leading edge of paragliders made with DOMINICO 30 fabric.

Dominico continues to insist that his guarantee is clear, and the reality is that, for all practical purposes, the opposite cannot be proven.
Manufacturers review each case individually and offer solutions within their means, but no claims can be made, since Dominico provides evidence that its fabrics passed quality control checks.

In the case of Costa Rica, with extreme UV and heat conditions, Dominico’s polyurethane coating is not capable of withstanding these “extreme” conditions of use, whereas a silicone coating—as found on other fabrics, Porscher in particular—it is more resistant to the harsh effects of sun exposure. An analysis of 12 domestic paragliders has confirmed that this is indeed the case.

⚠️Dominico 30D / 30DMF (Dominico 320): What is it?

It is a fabric made of 30 grams/m², widely used for years by paragliding brands for the leading edge and the upper/lower surfaces. It is known for being lightweight and durable, but certain batches manufactured between 2019 and 2022 had problems with premature porosity, especially for school paragliders and those in heavy use.

Paragliders that Dominico commonly used: 30D / 320

Many brands used it, especially on EN-A, EN-B, and some EN-C models. Exact models may vary by size and year, but here are some of the best-known ones:

Gin Gliders

  • Bolero (several generations)

  • Avid

  • Atlas

  • Race (lightweight versions)
Gin was one of the brands most closely associated with the porosity issue in certain batches of the fabric.

Ozone

Although Ozone mainly uses Porcher, some specific models and sizes used Dominico:

  • Mojo (select sizes and years)

  • Buzz (some versions)

  • Jomo (light version)

BGD – Bruce Goldsmith Design

  • Magic

  • Adam

  • Epic
BGD confirmed the use of Dominico on the soffit and rafter surfaces in several models.

NIVIUK

Porcher is the most common in those years, but in certain batches:

  • Koyot (several generations)

  • Takoo (tandem)

  • Link (paramotor)
They didn't use Dominico every year.

Skywalk

Available in “school” and “club” versions for courses:

  • Mescal

  • Tequila (certain editions)
But not all series include it.

ICARO / SKYMAN / DUDek

Dominico was used in:

  • Pica

  • Wild Cat

  • Spiro

  • Many training paragliders (Dudek Marlin, etc.)

⚠️ Important: Not all paragliders made with Dominico 30 are affected

The critical problem of rapid degradation has been observed particularly in sails manufactured between 2019 and 2022, due to a batch with a defective fabric finish.

If your candle:

  • was manufactured during those years, and

  • Dominico has 30 on the leading edge…

It is highly recommended to test the fabric for porosity and strength., especially in critical areas.
